Freedom to Read Week - Read a "Banned" Book

It's Freedom to Read Week. Check out our display of books that have been challenged or banned in other school and public libraries. The ones we have on display are deemed age appropriate for Grade 7 - 12 students, however, we also have books that have been challenged or banned in our higher fiction room that are read in Grade 11 and 12 classes.  You can find more about Freedom to Read Week on our Pinterest page.

Well loved novels like The Outsiders, The Pigman and the Harry Potter books - all books that have been used as classroom novels in our school -  have been challenged and even banned in other school libraries and classrooms.

Show your support for Freedom to Read Week by reading or re-reading one of these novels this week.

Or drop by the library Friday at lunch and hear our writing club members read from one of the "challenged" or "banned" books on display.

If there are any other students or staff who wish to participate, please see Ms. Armstrong by Friday a.m.
