Author Wesley King visits Carman Collegiate

Grades 6-8 students welcomed award-winning author Wesley King to Carman Collegiate today. He started his presentation with a fun improv exercise where he asked two volunteer students to provide sound effects and act while he told a story. Mr. King then spoke about his life as a writer, telling students how to find story ideas, how to commit to finishing a story, the importance of editing and more. Although his first career choice was thwarted by a man in a white coat who was good at math equations, Mr. King said he was very happy being a full-time writer. While researching and writing his books, he currently divides his time between living on an island in the ocean off Nova Scotia and sailing near Africa.

Proof of his popularity as a writer, some of Mr. King's novels are currently sold out but we will be adding them to our library as soon as we can. Currently our library has copies of Mr. King's favourite book he's written so far, OCD Daniel.  We also have his new book, A World Below, about students being stuck in a cave which although timely was written before the recent incident in Thailand. Another great reading option is the award-winning super villain series that starts with Vindico, followed by the sequel The Feros. Mr. King reported that the third book in the trilogy will be coming out soon. You can also sign out one of our two copies of Laura Monster Crusher, a book about a girl who gets teased about her size but ends up with the important job of crushing monsters.

Keep watching the new book book shelf for more of Mr. King's fine books.
